Other Items to Consider Before Death

There are several items to consider regarding death. It is always a good idea to consider completing a Living Will. The Living Will lists the medical options you have should you ever be in a permanent coma, terminally ill, or in a persistent vegetative state. For these conditions you will be asked whether you wish to receive:

  1. Artificial Life Support (all possibilities pursused to prolong my life)
  2. Artificially administered food and water
  3. Comfort Care

You should also complete a Medical Power of Attorney, and provide a copy of your drivers license showing that you wish to donate your organs. This way your loved ones will know and understand your intentions.

Your loved ones will also appreciate you having prepared a list of other valuable information. These are:

  1. Name, address and phone number of your attorney.
  2. Contact name at the funeral home you have pre-planned/paid for your funeral.
  3. Burial plots and cemetery name. A Deed to the polt if already purchased would be helpful.
  4. A list of people you would like notified.
  5. List of credit card numbers, bank accounts, retirement accounts, investments, etc.
  6. Do you wish to be buried or cremated.
  7. Should the casket be open or closed.
