Good Samaritan Support Group

Mission Statement: The purpose of the Good Samaritan Support Group is to provide a safe place where those who have suffered sexual abuse by priests/clergy, may meet with others who have suffered abuse. It is a social process where they attempt to move past the initial abuse and start to develop close ties with other survivors and eventually the parish community, if they desire. This is done by telling their story to each other and to the people of God who make up the church. This takes place in a loving and non-judgemental environment where they may begin to hope and trust, again; where they can find love, mercy, compassion and support, and ultimately find peace and acceptance in their lives. In the Good Samaritan parable, the beaten individual was ignored by those most expected to help. The Samaritan, filled with compassion and mercy at the sight of his pain and suffering, offers him safety and protection, dresses his wounds and sees that he is cared for. We follow the example of the Good Samaritan.

Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.
